Port of Spain Map

This map of Port of Spain encompasses the Queen's Park Savannah, Emperor Valley Zoo (EVZ) and the Royal Botanic Gardens in the North, The National Academy for the Performing Arts (NAPA) and the Port of Spain General Hospital (POSGH) towards the East, Independence Square and Brian Lara Promenade, City Gate, the Port of Port of Spain and Hyatt Hotel to the South and Movie Towne, One Woodbrook Place and the Western Main Road, St. James to the West. Also to the south, Wrightson Road and the Audrey Jeffers Highway skirt the city at the shoreline. To the north west of the city is Diego Martin and Petit Valley to the north is Maraval, to the north east is St, Annˈs and Cascade and to its east is Laventille.

Within the city the Emperor Valley Zoo (EVZ), with a pink marker, would be of interest to the visiting birder as there are displays of foreign and local fauna. Tigers, lions and giraffes are amongst the foreign exhibits whilst amongst the local avifauna are Savanna hawks, Pawi, Blue-chinned Sapphire Hummingbird, Turkey vulture, &c. Visitors are allowed daily from 9:00am to 5.30pm weekdays and up to 6pm on weekends, except Christmas Day, Carnival Monday and Carnival Tuesday. There is an entrance fee for adults and children above 3 years.

Nearby to the Zoo are the Botanic gardens, also with a pink marker, and Queens Park Savannah (a green patch figuring prominently), particularly the hallows, where one may sight a Saffron Finch, Snowy Egryt, Carib Grackle, Parrot, Great Kisskadee, Palmiste, Tropical Mocking Bird, Swift, Sothern Lapwing, Bare Eye Thrush, Blue Tanager, Rudy Ground Dove, Tropical Kingbird, Yellow tail, various raptors amongst other birds.
